Spanish playgroups

1.5 – 2 years old

Our group meets twice a week for 2 hours each day. We focus on activities that help them turn on their curiosity while they explore new materials and listen to new sounds. Every activity is planned so that they can enjoy this first exposure to a learning setting. After some classes we love witnessing how they become confident for the separation process.

At this stage social interaction is the most important thing, helping them to feel part of a group, to interact with others, learn to share and gain confidence.

As well as developing their social skills, we also work around thematic units that help them to recognize vocabulary in Spanish.

We use lots of songs, musical instruments, puppets, pictures and art projects.

2.5 – 3 years old

Our groups meet twice a week for 2 hours each day. Socialization and sharing is what we focus on in our immersion program.

They start playing with others, and activities are designed so they can interact with friends and as a group.

We work with an age appropriate curriculum that can be adjusted based on the group characteristics. Each month a new unit is taught while reinforcing what has already been learned.
They enjoy lots of songs, games and art activities that foster their emotional, social and cognitive development.

As we love singing and we strongly believe music is one of the best tools to teach a language,
They begin to learn songs and sounds of new words which leads them to use Spanish spontaneously.

3.5 – 4 years old

In our classes, which take place once or twice a week for 2 hours each day, we use stories, riddles, rhymes, songs, games and art activities.

They begin to internalize new words, play board games and show a lot of progress in their use of the language.

Once they turn 4 years old we use lots of activities that help them develop their phonemic awareness.

Role playing and group games have a special role, as the children can start to play in Spanish on their own, using whole phrases and communicating effectively.

4.5 – 5 years old

Groups meet once or twice a week for 1.5 or 2 hours each time. Besides working with different units of new vocabulary each month, the children begin using structures to communicate in Spanish.
The activities are designed to help them develop their phonological awareness so they can get ready for the next step:
reading.

We work with projects that provide a context for the children to have fun while reinforcing everything that they have learnt. Through math, science, reading and writing activities we help them further develop skills in the language.

Our aim is that children start using Spanish spontaneously. Books are available and lent to every family so they can share stories at home.

5.5 -6 years old

These groups can meet once a week for 1.5 hours each time. Activities are designed so that besides learning and expanding their vocabulary they can improve their phonemic awareness.

Every class includes reading and writing activities. We love to create stories, play with riddles and word puzzles.

Each child has a workbook designed by the content creators of this program with specific activities to constantly develop their skills.
